How your support enabled Lydia to undergo life changing operations and treatment to save the use of her leg

Earlier this year Lydia, a lovely hard working young lady from our Simba Scholars programme in Kenya, desperately needed an operation on her leg otherwise she would lose the use of it.

Thanks to the kindness and compassion of the supporters of our Christmas 2022 Appeal, we were able to fund two operations and ongoing treatment for her which has changed her life.

Our hearts went out to Lydia and her mum when we first heard about her. Life is hard enough living in abject poverty as a single orphan, but to have sickle cell anaemia really is tough. It caused Lydia episodes of pain and made her more susceptible to illness, including the problem she had with her leg. To make matters worse, Lydia's mum had broken her leg and caught pneumonia at the same time, making it difficult to stay on top of her small crop-growing business.

Lydia underwent two gruelling operations in February which went very well and now means she can walk without the use of crutches. Both mum and daughter are absolutely over the moon and still can't believe how much they have been blessed.

"May God bless all those who have contributed to my treatment," Lydia told us. What an amazing outcome all thanks to the generosity of our supporters!

"Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people." Galatians 6:10
