Haiti Kids Alive School

Haiti Kids Alive School

A wonderful school serving 200 impoverished children from the slums of Cap Haitien. They are so poor, we also provide 3 meals a day (plus weekend food packages), as well as after school education support for those with no family to help them with their homework.

Haiti Kids Alive School offers a quality Christian education to impoverished kids from the local community in Cap Haitien, as well as those who live in the Children’s Village – almost 200 in total.

In addition to academic instruction, we offer three meals during the day. Some students stay after school for the tutoring services we offer, especially those who don’t have anyone at home who can help them with homework. Education is the most reliable path out of poverty, and we want to give each student the best chance possible to succeed and make a difference in their families and communities.

We recently installed new solar panels that will help us more efficiently power both the School and the Children’s Village. We’re also grateful that we were able to reinstate our weekend food programme, sending bags of food home with students who might not otherwise receive meals on the weekends.

And we recently sent our school bus “next door” to Dominican Republic for repairs, as we need reliable, safe transportation for our kids. We’re also working on repairs to our cafeteria, paved paths throughout the campus for muddy seasons and finishing the space that will house Service Teams.

All of this and more is possible because of the faithfulness of our gracious God and our wonderful supporters!

Haiti Kids Alive School: A story of hope

Patricia’s story (name changed to protect privacy)

Patricia has never known her mother, who died just a few months after giving birth. She lives in Cap Haitien with her father, stepmother, and brother, and when she was in year 3 she enrolled in the Haiti Kids Alive School.

Because her parents are unemployed, the economic situation at home is bleak. In Haiti, most education is private and very expensive, leading to the low rates of primary school enrolment. But Kids Alive is the reason Patricia was able to receive a good education, eat three times during the school day, and even have food to take home to her family for the weekend. This girl loves school! Her grades are good and she is now one of two community kids in our programme to reach year 12 (the UK equivalent of A levels).

Our ministry was able to send her to the Dominican Republic to have a much-needed surgery, replacing her right eye with a prosthetic eye. That experience caused her to begin dreaming of becoming a doctor one day, and we are excited to see what her future will hold.

Patricia is always sharing with others that Kids Alive is the reason she has succeeded so far and how much she loves our ministry. We feel privileged to be part of her story of how God rescues and restores!
