Please pray for the situation in Lebanon as the war in Israel and Gaza escalates

As the terrible situation in Israel / Gaza right now threatens to spill into Lebanon, we would really appreciate your prayers for our work there.  The southern border of Lebanon borders with Israel, so the situation is very tense.

Our staff and the children and families we serve are particularly concerned that the current situation does not escalate into Lebanon, especially our New Horizons project  in the south where bombing has been heard and many people are fleeing their homes.

For 75 years we have worked in Lebanon bringing compassion, education, care and love to refugee children through four main projects, including our Oasis Care Centre, which provides specific and intensive educational support to Syrian refugees; and our Dar el Awlad School which provides a tailor-made education for many of the neighbourhood’s most vulnerable children, including refugees.

You can watch a short video highlighting the recent celebrations for our "75 Years at Lebanon" here.

Please can you pray:

  • That the conflict will not escalate into Lebanon (or any other country come to that).
  • Specifically, for the family of one of our New Horizons' staff members who live in a village on the border, where they are refusing to evacuate. The sound of bombing was especially loud earlier in the week, but fortunately some distance from New Horizons.
  • Praise God that our work at our Dar el Awlad Centre in Beirut has not been affected and that this will remain so.
  • For continued blessings on our work in Lebanon serving hundreds of vulnerable Syrian refugee children and their families, especially for our County Director, and her team.
  • That God will protect the children we serve, their families and our staff, as we continue to minister to them.

"For He himself is our peace, who has made the two groups one and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility, by setting aside in His flesh the law with its commands and regulations. His purpose was to create in Himself one new humanity out of the two, thus making peace, and in one body to reconcile both of them to God through the cross, by which He put to death their hostility. He came and preached peace to you who were far away and peace to those who were near. For through Him we both have access to the Father by one Spirit."  Ephesians 2: 14-18
